Fourth of July celebrations in Kingston to have no pre-fireworks entertainment – Daily Freeman

KINGSTON, New York. The city’s Fourth of July celebration will not include pre-fireworks entertainment because officials felt it was not the right time to ask businesses to sponsor it, the mayor said.

“The pre-fireworks entertainment has always been privately funded,” Mayor Steve Noble said in an email Tuesday. “As businesses struggle, we felt that now is not the right time to ask for sponsorship and it’s best to encourage people who enjoy the fireworks to shop early and dine downtown.”

On Monday, July 4, fireworks will be launched on the city’s waterfront. They will be visible from TR Gallo Park. The city is working on plans to organize a shuttle service to and from the waterfront.

The exhibit, which will be launched from a barge in Rondout Creek just after dark, is sponsored by Ole Savannah Restaurant and O’Connor & Partners.
