Train travel to spur tourism to Wadi Rum: transport minister

AMMAN. Transportation Minister Wajih Azaizeh and Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez met with Jordan Heritage Revival Company Chairman Shehade Abu Hudayb on Saturday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation, Jordanian news agency Petra reported.

The meeting, which was also attended by the director of the Jordanian Hijaz Railway Corporation, focused on a tourism project run by the railway company in Wadi Rum that aims to imitate Jordanian tourism.

Azaizeh emphasized the role of the Jordanian Hijaz Railway in attracting tourists by increasing the number of flights that are operated by historical steam locomotives, reflecting the historical heritage of the Kingdom and the centenary of the Great Arab Revolt.

Participants agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation and ongoing coordination between all parties in a way that would make Jordanian tourism attractive locally and internationally.
